Erik has over 20 years of Reinsurance broking and underwriting experience. He was most recently the Head of Casualty and Business Solutions at BMS Re and was Ledgebrook’s reinsurance broker before joining the Ledgebrook family. He has experience building out reinsurance underwriting businesses to scale quickly and profitably, as Head of U.S. Casualty for Conduit Re ($200M+), and Head of Casualty at Sirius Bermuda ($100M+), before his appointment as Branch Manager of the QBE Re Bermuda office ($50M). Erik cut his teeth on the broking side at both Aon Re and Gallagher Re, and his 50/50 career experience as both a reinsurance broker and underwriter are invaluable. Erik also spent 8 years working in the Bermuda marketplace and looks to bring the Bermuda market to Ledgebrook as our business continues to grow and scale. Erik is a Rutger University Graduate and Olympic Trial Qualifier and was All American at numerous times in his swimming career.
Chris brings nearly a decade of reinsurance market experience to Ledgebrook Re, most recently serving as a broker for Gallagher Re (formerly Willis Re) in San Francisco, where he rose quickly through the ranks to become the youngest Vice President in the firm's history. Chris specializes in structuring reinsurance solutions for complex and hard-to-place risks, building market support through a blend of technical acumen and strong market relationships to deliver customized strategies across casualty, workers compensation, and property lines. Chris began his undergraduate studies at Northwestern College, where he was a member of the nationally ranked golf program, before transferring to the University of Northern Iowa to complete his degree in Finance. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Chris enjoys golfing, mountain biking, skiing, and hiking with his dogs.
Ben brings a diverse background in treaty reinsurance broking with experience across both large intermediaries and more entrepreneurial firms. Prior to joining Ledgebrook, Ben held roles at Guy Carpenter and BMS Re, where he led the structuring and placement of complex property and casualty programs. His work earned him industry recognition, including the Reinsurance News 40 Under 40 Rising Star and The Program Manager’s 2024 Rising Star Awards. Ben holds a degree in Government and Economics from Wesleyan University, where he was a scholar-athlete and member of the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship lacrosse team.
Neil Templeman has had a 18-year career working in the insurance/reinsurance industry and began his career in the Mergers and Acquisitions sector focussing on insurance clients working at PWC and Ernst and Young. Prior to joining Ledgebrook Neil was working at Ardonagh where he was responsible for leading an MGA and reinsurance broking unit. Neil acted as Ledgebrook’s reinsurance broker on a number of deals during this time.
Prior to this Neil founded a London based MGA called Aurous which focused on specialty and property business specialising in utilising alternate capacity panels for non-US risks. Neil was the part of the initial team that set-up Capsicum Re in 2013 holding the role of Finance Director which was subsequently sold to Arthur J Gallagher in 2022.
Neil is a fellow Member of the Chartered Certified accountants and holds a degree from Swansea University in International Relations and Economics.
William Mulcahy has more than 30 years experience in the (re)insurance industry.
Before joining Ledgebrook William was an actuary at Ardonagh Specialty. He has experience in traditional reinsurance and insurance-linked securities. Including the positions of chief actuary at Ariel Re and pricing & portfolio actuary at ILS Capital Management.
He started his insurance career in 1988 as a trainee actuary at Norwich Union.
William holds a M.A. in Mathematics from Trinity College, Dublin and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
Owen brings nearly two decades of U.S. casualty underwriting experience to Ledgebrook’s Reinsurance Broking team. He joins the firm from Ardonagh Specialty, where he served as Head of Casualty Underwriting, with deep expertise underwriting complex casualty risks across both primary and excess placements and extensive experience supporting treaty negotiations for casualty portfolios across U.S. and London markets.
Prior to Ardonagh, Owen was a Senior Underwriter at Everest Insurance, managing a diversified U.S. casualty portfolio exceeding $50 million. Earlier in his career, he held senior underwriting roles at Ironshore Insurance Services and Liberty Specialty Markets, underwriting complex programs across construction, energy, transportation, and public entity risks. Owen started his career at Lexington Insurance’s National Branch in Boston.
Owen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Boston College. Based in London, he enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, playing golf, and travelling.
As Head of Transformation at Ledgebrook, Catherine uses her 15 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industries to lead enterprise-wide change initiatives. She guides teams through periods of rapid organizational and process transformation, leveraging expertise in program management, operational excellence, and underwriting to oversee strategic initiatives that support Ledgebrook’s continued growth - including the launch of Ledgebrook Re. Catherine joined Ledgebrook from American Express, where she was most recently a Senior Risk Manager leading a high-performing team supporting credit strategy and operations for the U.S. middle market. Prior to American Express, Catherine spent six years as a property and casualty underwriter at AIG Private Client Group. She holds a dual Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish from Pepperdine University and is based in sunny Los Angeles, California.
Robert has 25 years of experience in the (re)insurance industry. He has held roles at GrECo and Aon as an Insurance Broker, where he serviced international companies and managed global insurance programmes. Previously, at Acturis, he managed a project to adapt the Acturis SaaS insurance platform to the specific needs of the Polish market.At Catlin and later XL Catlin, Robert built the Reinsurance Operations team from the ground up, established efficient processes within the reinsurance function, and provided services to clients across multiple global jurisdictions. Prior to this, he worked as a Liability & Property Commercial Underwriter at Allianz Ireland and as a Business Development Executive at PZU. Robert holds an M.A. in Management and Marketing from Gdańsk University and is a Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP) of the Insurance Institute of Ireland. He enjoys travelling, hillwalking, skiing, cycling and other outdoor activities.
